  1. A situation where two things are changed at once
    The dance included an intricate double switch.
  2. (baseball) A replacement of two players simultaneously, typically so that a fielder can hit in the pitcher's spot in the batting order.
    They did a double switch after the eighth so that Jones could bat second in the ninth.
