effective stack size (plural effective stack sizes)

  1. (poker) The maximum amount of chips in one's stack that is able to be wagered, after all the possible bets, raises and reraises.
    Consider a heads-up no-limit game: if Player A has 40k chips and Player B has 70k chips, the effective stack size is 40k chips.
