Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἐγχυτρισμός (enkhutrismós, enchytrism), from ἐγχυτρίζω (enkhutrízō, to expose a newborn in a pot) + -μός (-mós), from lenited ἐν- (en-, in-) and χυτρίζω (khutrízō, put in a pot), from χύτρα (khútra, clay pot).
