Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἔσχατος (éskhatos, last) +‎ -logía. Coined as an alternative to standard escatología to avoid ambiguity with the sense "scatology." The j is intended as a closer representation of the sound of the Greek letter chi in ἔσχατος.
