felony stop (plural felony stops)

A felony stop demonstration performed by LAPD cadets. The suspect (in red shirt) was instructed to lie down before he was apprehended by armed cadets.
  1. (US, law enforcement) A traffic stop of a person deemed dangerous performed from a distance by shouting instructions with weapons drawn.
