forehood (plural forehoods)

  1. (nautical, ship-building) One of the most forward of the outside and inside planks
    • 1919, William Henry Curtis, The Elements of Wood Ship Construction:
      Where the curvature is sharp they should be scribed very close together. The batten is next taken off the ship and laid on the timber from which the forehood is to be cut.
