Etymology[edit]
Referring to a pig, with the rooter being the snout (with which pigs like to root), and the tooter being the anus.
Prepositional phrase[edit]
- (idiomatic, Southern US) From head to toe.
- (idiomatic, Southern US) To waste very little; to use all available resources.
- We use 'em from the rooter to the tooter — everything but the squeal!
