gañen
- inflection of gañar:
Garifuna[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Likely an old compound of Garifuna gayu (“chicken, fowl”) and an obsolete word meaning “egg”. Compare also Kalinago gą́ie (“chicken's egg”), which Taylor (1951) analyzes as a compound of gáiu (“chicken, fowl”, from Spanish gallo) + ę́u (“egg”, having possessive form -ę).
