game manager (plural game managers)

  1. (American football) A quarterback who makes a minimum number of mistakes on a team that relies on its defense and rushing offense to win games.[1]
    He was a "game manager" who threw five interceptions on the season, a steady, if unspectacular, player surrounded by a solid team.[1]
