  1. A plant of the genus Peucedanum.
    • 1911, James George Frazer, The Golden Bough, volume 8, page 254:
      Round the fish are placed four flat stones, on which the plant hog's wort (Peucedanum leiocarpum, Nutt.), red paint, and bulrushes are burnt as an offering to the salmon.
