- silverside (any small fish of the family Atherinidae that are characterized by bright, silvery scales)
- Nickname for anything that has silvery sides, especially another fish, such as silakka (“Baltic herring”), lohi (“salmon”), siika (“whitefish”) or meritaimen (“sea trout”).
