Etymology[edit]
Probably the same word as pyelapo (“chest”), from Proto-Cariban *pɨropɨ (“chest”), with an unknown prefix ho- added, as also found in words such as hoieelii (“tooth”) and hoomotaly (“shoulder”). The -lle ending continues the Proto-Cariban possessed suffix *-rɨ.
