Tocharian B[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from an Indo-Iranian source, ultimately either from the Bactria-Margiana subtrate or Proto-Indo-European *is- (clay, dough). Compare Sanskrit इष्टका (iṣṭakā) and Persian خشت, both meaning "brick". Possibly related to iścake (dirt, earth), if that term is also a borrowing from Indo-Iranian.

Noun[edit]

iścem ?

  1. clay
  2. brick, tile (made of clay), ceramic
