Etymology[edit]

Compare with Olukumi ìfun, Ifè ɛ̀fũ, and possibly related to Igala ìfi (intestine) or Igala éfù (stomach). Proposed to be derived from Proto-Yoruba *ì-fũ, from Proto-Edekiri *ì-fũ, ultimately from Proto-Yoruboid *ì-fũ. Compare with Akan ofu, Ayere ifu, Dagbani puuni
