Internationalism, borrowed from Dutch informatie (information), from Middle French informacion, enformacion (Modern French information), and their source, Latin īnfōrmātiō (formation, conception; education), from the participle stem of īnfōrmō (to inform). Cognate with Afrikaans informasie (information).
