  1. (humorous) Drawing attention to a person's rudeness in not removing their hat.
    • 1978, The Southwestern Journal of Philosophy, volumes 4-9, page 94:
      S, an army drill sergeant, asks A, a basic trainee who has not removed his hat on entering a building, 'Is your head cold?' A is initially puzzled but comes to see that what S meant is that A is to remove his hat.
    • 2010, Yvonne Harris, The Vigilante's Bride, page 57:
      Is your head cold, Mr. Wade?” With a sheepish look, Clete swept his hat off.
