From jocular +‎ -ism.

Noun[edit]

jocularism (plural jocularisms)

  1. (countable) A jokingly contrived word or term.
    • 2018, James Lambert, “Anglo-Indian slang in dictionaries on historical principles”, in World Englishes, volume 37, page 254:
It is clear from the contexts in which the terms appear that these terms were thought of as jocularisms from the British perspective, again demonstrating the power imbalance of the era.
  2. (uncountable) The act or practice of joking.
