Hungarian[edit]
Alternative forms[edit]
- kétfele (folksy)
Etymology[edit]
két (“two”) + felé (“in … direction[s], into … part[s]”)
Pronunciation[edit]
Adverb[edit]
kétfelé (not comparable)
- in two (different or opposite) directions
- into two parts
- at two places or locations (normally in two different directions)
Usage notes[edit]
As opposed to analogous constructions (háromfelé etc.), it does not have a distinction between variants written in solid or separately, as it is only possible with the longer form of the numeral: kettő (óra) felé (“around two [o’clock]”).
