English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Related to kiki: either related to the sense "lesbian who is neither butch nor femme" because a butch who was sexual with another butch was considered un-butch and thus kiki, and likewise a femme sexual with another femme,[1] and the term was then extended to a trans person who was sexual with another trans person or a drag queen who was sexual with another drag queen,[2] or perhaps extended from the sense "gathering for gossiping, social activity".[3]

Pronunciation[edit]

    • 2013 April, Frontiers, volume 31, issue 25, "For A Good Time, Call William", page 50:
William's parodies—including "The Vagina Song, "Chow Down," "Let's Have a Kai Kai," "Love You Like a Big Schlong" and, most recently, "Boy is a Bottom"—have proven to be prime examples of William's comedic abilities.
    • 2020, Crystal Rasmussen, Tom Rasmussen, Diary of a Drag Queen:
But the other night with Ace marked my first kai kai, and it was in a toilet worse than that of a gay club. That's growth. Doing stuff in drag was not much different from doing stuff out of drag. All the parts work the same, and it's quite fun []
