Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish قاورمق (kavurmak), from Proto-Turkic *kagur- (to parch, to roast). Cognate with Azerbaijani qovurmaq, etc.

Related to Proto-Mongolic *kaxur-, compare Mongolian хуурах (xuurax). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
