Turkish[edit]

Etymology 1[edit]

From earlier *quruɣluɣ, from Proto-Turkic *kur-ug-lug (having the properties of erecting), from *kur-ug (erecting, erected thing), from *kur- (to erect).

By surface analysis, kur- +‎ -u (deverbal nominal suffix) +‎ -lu. From the same root see also Proto-Turkic *kur-ug-luk (container for something erected), Karakhanid قُرُغْلُقْ (quruɣluq, quiver, bow-case).
