Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *lengā, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *h₁lengʷʰ- (light, not heavy). For sense development, compare Old Irish laigiu (smaller), Welsh llai (smaller), Ancient Greek ἐλαχύς (elakhús, small, little), all from the same root.
