Compound of lembaran (“sheet”) + negara (“state”), calque of Dutch staatsblad (literally “state + sheet”).

Usage notes[edit]
As in the Netherlands, lembaran negara is used for publication of law. Other official announcements is published in berita negara, which is derived from Dutch staatscourant.
