Etymology[edit]

Blend of lunar +‎ normcore. Coined 2014, when also normcore attained celebration. Alternative lunarwear seems only secondary to this.

lunarcore (uncountable)

  1. A style of clothing characterized by retro-futuristic outdoor wear generally with a white or silvery base consisting of high-top sneakers or boots and an anorak or bomber jacket or at least alternatively heavy pants such as cargos.
