makeup call (plural makeup calls)

  1. (acting, modeling) A verbal or written request, or a scheduled time, for actors or models to be available for the application of cosmetics, hairstyling, etc. prior to a performance or photography session.
    The director scheduled the makeup call for 30 minutes before the play started.
    The model had to rush to get to her 8:30 makeup call.
  2. (sports) The situation where a referee calls out one team in an attempt to make up for a previous call that may have been erroneous.
