medium long shot (plural medium long shots)

1. (photography, cinematography) A shot (snapshot or series of film exposures) taken from enough distance to show a character from the knees on up, wider than a medium shot but tighter than a long shot.

     A long shot or medium long shot will most successfully cover all of the action during the meeting of the two characters.
