    • 1891, Charles Hilton Fagge, Philip Henry Pye‐Smith, Text‐book of the Principles and Practice of Medicine, volume II, page 178:
      Dr Chambers records a case in which it appeared certain that a gradual oozing of blood, causing continued melæna, was arrested by dilute sulphuric acid, with Battley’s solution of opium.
