minor seventh (plural minor sevenths)

  1. (music) A musical interval in Western music that is equal to or approximates a ratio of 9/5 or 16/9, depending on the context. In twelve-tone equal temperament, it spans ten semitones and seven degrees of the diatonic scale.
    The minor seventh has a pitch ratio close to 57:32.
