Etymology[edit]

Old Swedish mölna, mylna (mill) (from Latin molīna). Equivalent to mjöl +‎ -are. Alternatively directly from Late Latin molīnārius.

Spelling influenced by mjöl (flour, meal), which shares a common Proto-Indo-European etymon.
