Participle[edit]

mkabbar (feminine mkabbra, plural mkabbrin)

  1. past participle of kabbar
  2. haughty, exceedingly proud, arrogant
    • ca. 1970, New Cuorey [band] (lyrics and music), “Il-Bajja tal-Mellieħa”:
      Il-Maltin imkabbrin,
      B’din il-bajja tassew ferħanin,
      Għax imżejna b’kull ġmiel naturali,
      Baħar kaħlani bl-għelieqi mħaddrin.
      The Maltese are very proud,
They’re so happy about this bay,
Because it’s decorated with all natural beauty,
      Blue sea with green-coloured fields.
