From Proto-Aslian *nɔɔm (to urinate), from Proto-Mon-Khmer *n₁uum ~ *kn₁uum (urine; to urinate). Cognate with Mon ဏမ် (nom, urine), Khmer នោម (noom, urine; to urinate) and Eastern Mnong nôm (to urinate).
