Romanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Latin negōtium. An alternative theory includes the possibility of a borrowing from Italian negozio instead; the presence of the diphthongized plural form negoațe in the 16th century, however, seems to reinforce it as an inherited term.[1]

Noun[edit]

negoț n (plural negoțuri)

  1. (rare) trade, commerce, business
