Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish نسنه (nesene, nesne, “thing, object”), can be analyzed as ne + ise + ne. Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *nē- (“what”), whence also Turkish ne.
Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (nerse, “thing”). Kazakh нерсе (nerse, “thing”), Azerbaijani nəsə, etc.
