Inherited from Ottoman Turkish اوموز اوموزه (omuz omuza),^[1] from اوموز (omuz),^[2] equivalent to omuz (“shoulder”) +‎ omuz +‎ -a (dative suffix), literally “shoulder to shoulder”.
