paddle scoop (plural paddle scoops)

  1. (cricket) An unorthodox modern cricketing shot in which the player's body is positioned square-on with the ball, both feet pointing towards the bowler, and the player uses the bat to deflect the ball over the batter's leg side shoulder, thus guiding it towards the fine leg region.
    Synonym: Marillier shot
