Spanish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From rendir +‎ -miento.

Pronunciation[edit]

  • IPA(key): /rendiˈmjento/ [rẽn̪.d̪iˈmjẽn̪.t̪o]
  • Rhymes: -ento
  • Syllabification: ren‧di‧mien‧to

Noun[edit]

rendimiento m (plural rendimientos)

  1. performance
    Synonym: desempeño
  2. yield, return

Usage notes[edit]

  • There are two Spanish words for performance in the workforce: rendimiento and desempeño. The word rendimiento has more to do with performance based on strict efficiency. It has to do with quantitative results, the yield produced or rendered. This is in contrast to desempeño, which has more to do with qualitative performance; more specifically, the quality of something achieved rather than the strict numbers produced.
