  1. To occur again (recur) in the same way or form.
    • 1951 April, R. S. McNaught, “Railway Enthusiasts”, in Railway Magazine, number 600, page 270:
      It is interesting to recall that the engine emerged from Swindon Works as County of Cheshire, but the mistake was noticed, and rectified [to County of Chester]. History repeated itself when the same thing happened to the more recent G.W.R. "County" class 4-6-0, No. 1011, which was fitted with nameplates in 1946.
