Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Central Franconian reiwe, from Middle High German rīben, from Old High German rīban, from Proto-West Germanic *wrīban, from Proto-Germanic *wrībaną.[1]

Cognate with German reiben and Luxembourgish reiwen.
