  1. The upper internal surface of the mouth that separates the oral and nasal cavities, found in people and some mammals.

Usage notes[edit]

  • The dictionary form is only used when referring to the body part in general. When referring to that of a specific person, the word "the" is replaced with the approprate possessive pronoun. Ex. There's something stuck to the roof of my mouth.
