Likely from Proto-Turkic *sï̄rïk (pole; rod). Compare Azerbaijani sırıq (duvet stitch), dialectally also "a pole to shake/knock the nuts from the tree"

  1. (possibly obsolete) to willow/beat wool with a stick so that it does not form lumps
