  1. A marine mollusk of the order Sacoglossa, sap-sucking sea slugs.

      Since the discovery of “chloroplast retention” in Elysia atroviridis (Kawaguti and Yamasu, 1965), sacoglossan sea slugs have become famous for their ability to extract and incorporate functional chloroplasts from algal food organisms, mainly Ulvophycae, into their gut cells.
