Etymology[edit]
From Ottoman Turkish سیر و سفر (sayr wa safar), combination of Arabic سَيْر (sayr, “movement, traffic”), Arabic و (w, “and”) and Arabic سَفَر (safar, “travel”), equivalent to compound of seyir + ve + sefer.
