Albanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Corrupted version of shqip (albanian); leaving out the q-sound like in south-slavic derogatory term Šiptar (which was borrwoed from Albanian shqiptar and entered Serbo-Croatian as Šćìpetār, now an archaic form. The archaic ć-sound doesn't occur in term Šiptar, thus perceived as derogative by Albanians)[1] + -uc (diminutive suffix).

Noun[edit]

shipuc m

  1. (colloquial, derogatory) Albanophobe (A Gheg term. Literal meaning "little Albanian" and directed at an Albanian that allegedly dislikes his Albanian compatriots.)
