Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Germanic *sikrōną, *sīkrōną, frequentative verb derived from or related to Proto-Germanic *sīką (“trickling water”). Cognate with Saterland Frisian sikkerje (“to trickle”), German Low German sickern (“to trickle”), German sickern (“to trickle”). More at sike, sie.
