Swedish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Disputed. Arguably pure back-formation from snickare. Arguably directly from the dialectal verb snicka, from Old Swedish snikka, from Old Norse *sníðka, from sníða (from whence also snida).

Pronunciation[edit]

Verb[edit]

snickra (present snickrar, preterite snickrade, supine snickrat, imperative snickra)

  1. to do woodwork or carpentry
