  1. A consolidated governing board set up in place of several lesser boards.
    • 1972, University Register, volume 2, University of Virginia:
      States such as North Carolina, Louisiana, and Wisconsin have consolidated power over state college policy in superboards in an attempt to improve efficiency.
    • 1977, Paul A. Mickey, Robert Leroy Wilson, What new creation?, page 142:
      Several problems seemed to have resulted in the creation of the superboards. The first was the perceived wasteful and needless duplication of programs by different agencies within the same denomination.
