superfortress (plural superfortresses)

  1. A massive and heavily protected fortress.
  2. A bomber aeroplane that is larger than and superior to by being technically advanced compared to the Boeing B-17 "flying fortress", specifically the Boeing B-29 long-range heavy bomber aeroplane that was developed during the early 1940s.
