From Arabic تَنُّور (tannūr), from Aramaic תנורא or Classical Syriac ܬܰܢܽܘܪܳܐ (tannūrā), from Middle Persian [script needed] (tnwl /⁠tanūr⁠/, oven) from which also Hebrew תַּנּוּר (tanúr, oven), from Akkadian 𒋾𒂟 (tinūru).
