tilheyra (weak verb, third-person singular past indicative tilheyrði, supine tilheyrt)
- to belong (to someone/something)
- to be part (of something) (this usage gives the notion that it is an indispensable part)
- Það tilheyrir giftingarathöfninni að brúðhjónin kyssist.
- It is [a traditional/indespensable] part of the wedding ceremony that the couple kiss.
