Etymology[edit]

Likely originated from trollbacka (now dialectal). The change from b to p likely influenced by pack. Compare Danish troldpak, Norwegian trollpakk. For the second half of compound, see also origin for nattblacka (nightjar) and obsolete natbakka (owl), aptanbakka (bat).
